Traditions are what makes the holidays special for our family. The things you do year after year that everyone comes to count on. It’s the marking of time. I always feel like the holiday season kicks off with Halloween. It’s the first chance we have to decorate our homes, make some themed holiday treats and get ready for the fun to come!
One of our family’s Halloween traditions centers around these cute felt chairbackers. I purchased these from Pottery Barn Kids several years ago. A few weeks before Halloween, I print out jokes and spooky quotes to stuff inside the pockets. Sometimes, I’ll even include tricks or treats just to make the kiddos smile. These glasses are so goofy looking. They kept us laughing throughout dinner the other night. And glow in the dark vampire teeth are always a big win over here!
To make things simple, I’ve included a free printable for you. Just click here to download the Halloween jokes. Click here to download the spooky Halloween quotes.
I cannot say enough great things about this cutting tool. If there is one craft tool to start with, this would be it! I use this all the time. It’s simple to use and great for cutting straight lines. Several companies make a version of this. Mine is by Fiskars. The blade portion is replaceable for when it gets dull.
A three tier tray that I use as a kitchen table centerpiece holds paper mache treat containers that coordinate with the chairbackers. As you can tell, we are not scary Halloween people. Cute has always been more my style when it comes to this holiday. I have to say that even now that my kids are older and would possibly be more into a scary Halloween, they tend to follow the family tradition of being fraidy cats like their mom! So, we’ll stick to fun and cute here. I’d love to hear about some of your Halloween traditions. Happy trick or treating!
