Welcome, fall! I absolutely love this time of year. The temperature drops, the leaves turn beautiful shades of crimson and gold and we all run inside from summer to the warmth of our homes. What better way to welcome the change of seasons than to create an inviting entry? Today, I decorated my front porch for fall.

I found this navy, faux mohair throw for my front porch swing and it acted as my inspiration piece. It has a cute windowpane grid pattern on it. I was able to keep the cream and navy pillows that I use during the summer on the swing. Then, I added some warm fall hues by using additional throw pillows in orange, ginger, and brown. I love the textural elements of the different pillows and the basket together. I thought this spot was just so inviting to sit with a warm cup of tea and enjoy the pretty mountain view from our porch.

Next, I planted the pots next to my front door. Here are the plants that I use often in my fall pots. First, I center a cabbage plant. I love the texture that these bring, along with the cool green and purple tones.

Second, I add the mums. Because what flower says fall more than chrysanthemums? I use the small size in the pots that flank my front doors. That way, I can get a variety of color in one container. This year, I did traditional fall colors of yellow, red and orange. Lastly, I added a small container of Red Rooster grass to the back of the pots for added height and some nice fall texture and color. I chose mums that were not opened yet since I planted them on the early side.

Next up was pumpkins! I love pumpkins. Nothing says fall to me more than a beautiful display of pumpkins on your porch. This year, I decided to keep all of the pumpkins up top by my doors. I combined regular orange with fairytale pumpkins, white pumpkins, green pumpkins. Every kind of pumpkin! We are so fortunate in the Pacific Northwest to have so many varieties. They are also offered at incredible prices here. So, it’s not as unreasonable to go crazy decorating with them!

A simple and easy trick that I use often is to add gourds to the base of my Alberta Spruce trees. It gives this area a shot of color.

Oh fall, I love the warmth you bring and I’m so excited that you’ve arrived. Come on in, everyone!
