A Very Merry Christmas Tour Part Two

Decorating· Holidays· Home Tour

Welcome back for part two of a very merry Christmas home tour! I’m so glad to have you here. Every year, we have a Christmas party. Some years it’s on Christmas Eve, like this years will be, and other years, it happens a few weeks ahead of time. Everyone’s first glimpse of our home is the foyer. So, I really want it to look merry and festive. I draped the staircase in garland lit with white lights, iced red berries and frosted pinecones. I can’t decide whether I want to add ribbons to it or not. Since it’s somewhat large, I feel like there would need to be a lot of ribbons. And that may be overkill. So, for now, I’ve decided to keep it simple with the greens and picks.

Years ago, I saw this darling arrangement on Pinterest. I’ve linked the pin here. The first year, I had a local florist put it together for me. It looked beautiful. However, I realized how simple it was to do myself. So, now I make it each year and it’s a favorite. Candy canes, a rubber band, ribbon and grocery store roses. It doesn’t get much simpler than that! Give it a try.

Our dining room fireplace is all ready to warm our guests. I love these icicle picks mixed in the garland.

One of my favorite finishes at this time of year is mercury glass. You may have noticed all of the mercury glass ornaments on our tree from the first part of my home tour. I’ve continued with that metal finish in the dining room. The centerpiece is made of greens, frosted berries, pinecones and mercury ornaments. It could not be more simple to throw together. I found these mercury glass candle holders a few years ago at Crate and Barrel. They look so pretty lit.

The kitchen is very fun this time of year. It looks so merry in here! The stove is truly the center point of our home. So, I love to play that up by decorating the mantle ledge above it seasonally.

This antique looking frosted snowman is happy upon his ledge. Even these greens felt vintage to me along with the old fashion jingle bell. A few years ago, I found this sign that says Believe. I put it up as a not so subtle recommendation for my older kids. The magic of this season is amazing. I’d love for them to hold on and believe in all of it for as long as possible.

This time of year we are always hot cocoa ready! Special mugs. Check! Marshmallow supply. Check! Peppermint candy canes to stir. Check!

It’s so hard to shoot in my mudroom because of the shape and width. But, I love this felt snowflake garland hanging from the cubbies. It greets us every time we walk through our backdoor.

I can’t wait for Christmas this year! For the first time, my parents, my sister and her family are all coming for Christmas. Our house will be full and bursting at the seams with family! Just how we like it. We are busy making plans to see zoo lights, bake cookies and decorate gingerbread houses. I could go on and on. What I love most is just sitting around retelling the same stories and laughing until we can’t breathe! I hope you find yourself with the people you love, whether they are family or friends that have become family. We are fortunate to have both in our lives. I hope you are too. Merry Christmas!
