Happy St. Patrick’s Day everyone! I’m curious. Does your family celebrate St. Patrick’s Day? My family’s heritage is not Irish. So, we never did much to celebrate the day. But, I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and attended a Catholic school with a large Irish population. I was always envious of the kids with the dyed green milk and sandwich bread at lunch. The Chicago river runs green and the parade is a city wide celebration. It all seemed so festive and fun! Then, I happened to marry Tom, who is 100% Irish. So, I have since tried to do some small things to celebrate this holiday with our family. I’m planning on posting a few times this week with simple little ways to celebrate and create a few special moments with your family. We’ll start with this yummy shamrock shake!

Most people are familiar with the version of the shamrock shake from McDonalds that’s been seasonally available for about 50 years now. It’s a favorite treat of my husband’s at this time of year. So, a few years back, I came up with this homemade version. Our kids love it and it’s become a favorite spring tradition. This shamrock shake could not be easier to throw together! Whip one up for your kiddos or yourself this weekend for a cool, minty treat. Let me know how you like it and if it compares to the original! Happy shamrocking!
