Is there anything more fun than the chance to play Santa? I’ve mentioned it before, but I love to give presents! It makes me so happy to find just the right gift for someone. Maybe it’s something they didn’t know they wanted or needed. It could be a present that tugs at the heart strings and hits just the right spot with sentimentality. Or, you could be fulfilling a desire by giving something that the recipient was truly longing for. I believe that when you’re giving a gift, it begins with their first glimpse of the package. So, today, I thought I’d share my Christmas wrapping plan for this year!

It started with these reindeer gift tags that I made. Stamping and paper crafting is a hobby that I’ve recently picked up during quarantine. It’s fun and relaxing to me. Perhaps, I’ll go into it in more detail in a future post. But, I just loved this little reindeer! He was the inspiration for my Christmas wrap this year. Once I decided to stencil a fair isle background on my tags, I knew I wanted to follow that cozy, sweater like theme. If you don’t have the time or inclination to make tags, there are so many cute ones out there for purchase. I’m planning on pairing this red window pane ribbon with the white paper. And, I’ll be using the red and white bakers twine to attach the gift tags to the larger bows on my presents.

I chose three wrapping papers. Red and white were the colors for this year! I love the quality of this paper. It has just the right amount of heft to it where it feels like good quality, but you can still actually wrap with it. Last year, I had a wrapping disaster with a sparkly wrapping paper that I couldn’t get to stay taped shut! Let’s just say it all ended with a hot glue gun. I wish I was kidding… The white paper in the middle is flocked. So, the cable knit has an interesting feel and look to it in person.

I ordered these jingle bells in bulk. I thought they’d add a cute touch when tied with the tag to each present. Plus, they make a really fun sound as you’re opening the gift! For the white pom pom ribbon, I’ll often just add a sprig of a more decorative element like that into my larger bows. Last year, I found some fun, thin tinsel ribbon. This year, I thought this pom pom one would go with the sweater wrapping theme. It’s wired, so I’ll be able to loop or twist it within the larger ribbon. The thin striped ribbon has glitter on it. Nothing like a little Christmas sparkle to add some excitement!

I picked up several of these small, striped boxes. They are the perfect size for a gift card. I thought they’d be wonderful for jewelry also. You can almost never get boxes any more from retailers. Especially with all of the online purchasing this year. So, I found this line of boxes and I think they’re so cute and festive! I’m planning on using the small round ones for some special gifts for my children. And, the larger square ones I’ll be shipping to family in another state. They just need a bit of ribbon and a tag and you’re all set! No wrapping paper required. I thought they might ship better than a gift wrapped in paper. Nothing to tear or dent along the way! And, they’re so beautifully finished that they look wonderful without the paper. We can all skip a step for ease! The large boxes are a little more in price than a typical white box, but they can be reused year after year. They would also be great for storing Christmas decorations.

I love to see the expressions on the faces of my friends and family when they receive a gift that I’ve picked out just for them. I’m missing all of them so very much this year. The gifts that I’ve selected are just a simple way to let them know how much I’ve been thinking of them. While they can’t replace the memories of laughing, cooking and celebrating together in person, they can let them know that I care and thought about each of them. And, hopefully, next year we can all be gathered again next to the tree, opening presents together. Here’s to that thought! Happy wrapping!

Well done as always! I love the theme and your ideas. I forgot about the paper fiasco last year and your effort put forth to make that paper stay on – thanks for making me smile. Your first Christmas in your new state will be memorable. Enjoy the jingle bells!
Thank you! Wish we were there to celebrate the holidays with you!
