Fall is officially here. It’s time to start gathering your people. What better time to welcome your family and friends in to your home? Not all entertaining has to be formal. The setup that I put together here reminds me of an indoor picnic.
I found this fall colored plaid scarf that I love! It has rich brown, orange and navy hues. Table throws are so popular right now. I really like to use them because they allow you to still see the beautiful texture and wood tones of your table. An added bonus is there aren’t as many placemats to wash and it’s not as much of an ordeal to launder as a full tablecloth.
I found these bell cup pods at a local garden store. They were inexpensive and a great textural element for the table. They are filled with tiny acorns to bring some of the beauty of fall inside.
Another way to keep things casual is to use your kitchen dining table instead of the more formal dining room. Sometimes, it’s more relaxing when people are able to just join you where you eat everyday.
The flower arrangement that I put together is made up of yellow sunflowers, wheat grass stems, purple leaves and chamomile flowers. I love the contrast of the bright yellow and the dark, moody purple.
White dishes are a staple for me. I’ve invested in a quality set that I’ve had for 20 years. I love that I can dress them up or down for any occasion or holiday. Here, I added a galvanized charger underneath the place setting. Also, I used my outdoor silverware. It gives the whole table a more casual feel.
Don’t hesitate. Take and idea or two and invite your friends and family over this weekend. In my opinion, nothing beats time together gathered around a table.
